According to the survey, early-stage cybersecurity workers are most likely to find jobs in under two weeks, including consultants and analysts
Finding a job in cyber is easy, it appears. Last year, almost one third (32 percent) of British cyber employees found a role in two weeks or less.
That’s according to a brand new survey of over 1,200 infosec workers, conducted by Cybershark Recruitment, in partnership with SC Media.
“This figure shows us just how quickly cybersec executives are snapping up new jobs,” says Daniel Murray, founder of Cybershark Recruitment and author of the survey.
“Considering the demand within the market, and the attrition rate in cybersecurity as a whole, it’s clear organisations need to secure good candidates quickly once they find them.”
According to the survey, early-stage cybersecurity workers are most likely to find jobs in under two weeks, including consultants and analysts. For the majority of the market (59 percent), the time taken to change roles rises to four weeks.
And this is a mobile workforce: over a third of UK cybersecurity employees are looking to leave their jobs this year, with nearly 37 percent of respondents saying they’re ‘definitely’ looking to change roles in 2022. Over a quarter admit ‘they weren’t actively looking, but would move if approached’.
In total, a strong majority (63 percent) of UK cybersecurity employees are open to new roles in 2022.
“We have seen this first-hand, with the cream of the crop snapped up very quickly. The market is strong, but while demand is high, supply can be hard to find and secure,” says Ken Morrice, founding managing partner at MM Search.
“This is where good headhunters can show their worth and support businesses of all shapes and sizes in their quest for the right people right now.”
Erika Lance, chief human resources officer from KnowBe4, says: “Employees are often solicited with job opportunities two to three times per week on LinkedIn – jobs are literally coming to them and they don’t have to go out looking.”
SALARY BY LOCATION: The North/South divide is alive and well.
