Requests Find Massive Quantity of Data Breaches at UK Job Centres

There were 32 data breaches in the first three weeks of 2025 alone.

Around 400 Job Centres across the UK reported data breaches last year.

According to media reports, figures collected from the Department of Work and Pensions show that 30 job centres in London reported data breaches, while there were north of 250 data security issues involving mail errors.

Data Breach Claims UK learned through a Freedom of Information request that 238 job centres experienced at least one breach between November 2023 and January 2025. The company found that two centres flagged seven breaches apiece.

There were 32 data breaches in the first three weeks of 2025 alone, and the DWP also said that there were 261 ‘postal security incidents’ between November 2023 and January 2025. Such incidents involve letters being sent to the wrong address and their contents–including an individual’s personal data–being seen by the wrong person.
