Data Recovery Challenges: Small Percentages Can Recover Data

Some respondents know their current backup systems are not sufficiently robust to allow rapid recovery.

More than half of IT decision makers have had to use backups to recover data, with only 50% of those able to do so successfully.

According to research of 604 IT security Decision Makers across the UK and US by Apricorn, a quarter of those who recovered data from backups were only able to partially recover their data/documents, and a further eight percent were unsuccessful because they did not have robust backup processes in place.

Also, nine percent of respondents acknowledged that their current backup systems are not sufficiently robust to allow rapid recovery from any attack.

“While it is encouraging to see more organisations automating backup and adopting multiple backup locations, the fact that a percentage of organisations still struggle with complete data recovery is a stark reminder of the work that remains. Robust backup systems are not just advisable; they are a necessity in today’s threat landscape” said Jon Fielding, Managing Director of Apricorn.
