Kristi Noem says CISA is its resources in ways that never intended.
Kristi Noem has been nominated to be the next secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, and has emphasised moving the agency away from anti-disinformation and refocusing the role of CISA to better strengthen the country's critical infrastructure.
According to CyberScoop, Noem - who is also governor of South Dakota - said that CISA has “gotten far off-mission” in a testimony before the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
“They’re using their resources in ways that [were] never intended,” she said. “The misinformation and disinformation that they have stuck their toe into and meddled with should be refocused back onto what their job is.
“CISA needs to be much more effective — smaller, more nimble — to fulfill their mission, which is to hunt and to help harden our nation’s critical infrastructure.”
