In response to the growing global cybersecurity skills gap, ISC2 launched the Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification in 2022 to provide accessible, entry-level training to individuals from all backgrounds – with no prior experience required. As part of its One Million Certified in Cybersecurity initiative, ISC2 has already certified over 10,000 individuals in Europe alone, with 53,000 more registered as ISC2 Candidates, helping to develop a broader, more diverse cybersecurity workforce.

The CC programme delivers essential knowledge in security principles, network security, incident response, and operations, preparing participants for job-ready roles in a fast-evolving industry. By welcoming individuals from non-traditional backgrounds – including women, career changers, and underrepresented communities – ISC2 is removing long-standing barriers to entry. Strategic partnerships with groups such as Women4Cyber (Belgium) and ReDI School (Germany) further support this mission.

What sets the CC apart is its inclusive, cost-free training combined with ISC2’s reputation for excellence. In 2024, ISC2 advanced the programme by introducing AI-driven adaptive learning, allowing candidates to progress at their own pace based on their existing knowledge and confidence levels – ensuring a more personalised and efficient path to success.

In addition to certification, CC participants gain access to the ISC2 member network – the world’s largest cybersecurity community – opening doors to mentorship, resources, and career progression. By lowering barriers to entry and embracing innovative, personalised learning, CC is addressing a critical skills gap with lasting impact.
