Yorkshire Cyber Boosted with Opening of BlueVoyant SOC

BlueVoyant opens first UK SOC in Leeds.

Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider BlueVoyant has opened its first Security Operations Centre (SOC) this week in Leeds.

The 24/7 SOC will be used to monitor clients’ networks and digital ecosystems and mitigate threats. “BlueVoyant is excited to add its name to the list of tech companies in Northern England that are pushing the boundaries of innovation,” said Robert Hannigan, BlueVoyant’s head of international business and former director of GCHQ.

Asked by SC UK why the company had chosen Leeds as its UK SOC base, Milan Patel, global head of MDR at BlueVoyant, said the city was selected to attract talent, with local businesses and universities plentiful in the area.

“We needed a place where there was a security operation, and customers and partners want a security operation,” Patel said. “We can run it remotely but we wanted to build operations where staff can learn from each other; we lose culture where there is no face to face and need a place where we work together as the best way to learn security is to work together.”

BlueVoyant has supported clients in the UK since the company’s inception in 2017, including the 2021, acquisition of Marclay, a UK-based cybersecurity consultancy that provided incident response and cyber investigation services.
