Research: Half of Working Week Commonly Lost to Manual Tasks

More than half confident that automation will reduce the weekly workload.

Network professionals spend as much as half of their workweek on manual tasks such as firewall management and network provisioning and remediating misconfigurations.

According to a survey of 500 network managers and administrators by Skybox, in larger global organisations, 51 percent of professionals spend their time on manual tasks, and 12 percent on remediations.

Also, 90 percent of network and security professionals worry about failing an external or internal audit due to misconfigurations.

Also, 56 percent of networking professionals were confident that automation will significantly reduce the need to work outside of contracted hours, alleviating pressure on teams, with 54 percent believing automation will improve cross-team collaboration, breaking down information silos and allowing teams to work on higher-level projects.

Adi Dubin, VP of products at Skybox Security said: “Manual tasks and network misconfigurations are creating operational headaches and exposing organisations to security vulnerabilities and compliance risks.

“As networks grow more complex, adopting automation is no longer optional, but essential to fortify business resilience by minimising security and compliance risks at scale.”
