£2 Billion Pledged in Budget for NHS Digital

Government pledges in in NHS technology and digital.

This week’s Autumn Budget saw a pledge of more than £2bn in NHS technology and digital.

Admitting in the Commons that while “our NHS staff do a remarkable job, and we thank them for it, it is clear that in so many areas we are moving in the wrong direction,” Chancellor Rachel Reeves has pledged to invest more than £2bn in NHS technology and digital in the Autumn Budget.

A policy paper, published by the Treasury of this week, committed to a £3.1bn increase in capital investment in 2025/2026, including more than £2bn in NHS technology and digital “to run essential services and drive NHS productivity improvements, to free up staff time, ensure all trusts have electronic patient records, improve cyber security and enhance patient access through the NHS App”.

The announcement follows the supply chain attack on Synnovis in June, which impacted several south London NHS Trusts.
