Operation Endgame Takes Down Cybercrime Infrastructure

Several malware droppers were taken down or disrupted.

Europol has taken down a number of malware droppers as part actions focused on disrupting criminal services.

According to a statement, the ‘Operation Endgame’ global effort targeted and took down IcedID, SystemBC, Pikabot, Smokeloader, Bumblebee and Trickbot via arrests, taking down criminal infrastructures and freezing illegal proceeds.

In total, there were four arrests in Ukraine and Armenia, 16 location searches across Europe, and over 100 servers taken down or disrupted.

Also, more than 2,000 domains are now under the control of law enforcement

Following the action, eight fugitives linked to these criminal activities have been added to Europe’s Most Wanted list.
