North East Business Resilience Centre Introduces Free Cyber Awareness Training Service

Digital health check service will be provided.

The North East Business Resilience Centre (NEBRC) has partnered with NHS England to better tackle cyber threats in the social care sector.

According to Care Home Professional a ‘digital health check’ service will provide free cyber services and training, specifically available for social care in the North East of England and Yorkshire.

Funded by Better Security, Better Care (via the NHS England North East and Yorkshire Regional Digital Transformation Team), the services will be provided by the NEBRC, a police-led, non-profit, that presents a blend of corporate businesses, policing and academia to help protect businesses in the North East, Yorkshire and The Humber from online crime and fraud.

Rebecca Chapman, CEO and director at the NEBRC, and retired police superintendent, said: “This scheme is fundamental to why the NEBRC was established, to help vulnerable businesses who either cannot afford cybersecurity services or are unaware of what steps they need to take to secure their business.”

Chapman confirmed that there has already been a vulnerability assessment conducted with one social care provider, where some common issues were identified, and an action plan was provided to the management to be implemented.
