Insight Partners Acknowledge Impacted Data in January Attack

Company remain committed to providing formal notification to affected individuals as promptly as possible.

Venture capital firm Insight Partners has confirmed that financial and personal information may have been impacted in a January security incident.

In a statement, it said that based on its investigation to date, “we understand that the impacted data may include certain fund, management company, and portfolio company information, banking and tax information, and certain personal information of our current and former employees, as well as information related to our Limited Partners.”

This has been communicated to its employees and Limited Partners, and it “remain committed to providing formal notification to affected individuals as promptly as possible, and will do so on a rolling basis as relevant information becomes available.”

This is the first time Insight has acknowledged that data was exfiltrated during the January cyber-attack on the firm, according to TechCrunch. It reports that the company previously attributed the hack to a “sophisticated” social engineering attack, but has not yet provided evidence for this claim.
