Increase in Number of Employees Using GenAI in Workplace

A third of employees secretly use GenAI at work.

Around 16 percent more employees have admitted to using GenAI tools at work.

According to research by Ivanti, 42 percent of employees use the tools - compared to 26 percent in 2024, despite concerns expressed about GenAI’s impact on job security.

Also, a third (32 percent) of employees who use GenAI tools at work say they’re keeping it a secret from their employer. Brooke Johnson, Ivanti chief legal counsel and SVP of HR and Security, said: “To address this, organisations should consider building a sustainable AI governance model, prioritising transparency and tackling the complex challenge of AI-fuelled imposter syndrome through reinvention.

“Employers who fail to approach innovation with empathy and provide employees with autonomy run the risk of losing valuable staff and negatively impacting employee productivity.”
