Housing company hit by attack which saw local residents receive phishing emails.
Thousands of Greater Manchester residents have been impacted by an attack on local housing company.
According to BBC News, the attack on Locata - which provides housing software for councils across the country - led to thousands of users being sent a phishing email asking them to "activate your tenancy options" and hand over personal data.
The attack hit one borough in Greater Manchester last week, with more impacted over the weekend. Locata has apologised for the disruption, saying it moved quickly to manage the issue and has informed those local authorities impacted.
A Manchester City Council spokesperson said Locata was unable to confirm to what extent personal data had been revealed.
