Europe faces a growing challenge as it remains skeptical of artificial intelligence adoption while simultaneously confronting an increasing wave of AI-powered cyberattacks. This dichotomy necessitates a shift in Europe's approach to AI to ensure enterprise security and maintain competitiveness with U.S. companies, according to Silicon Angle.
Traditionally Europe has been hesitant towards U.S innovation, said Holger Mueller, vice president and principal analyst at Constellation Research Inc. The same holds true for Europe's conservative stance on AI adoption. He argued, however, that waiting for sovereign cloud solutions is an impediment to global business operations.
Mueller emphasized that humans cannot effectively compete with AI-driven threats, suggesting that more AI may be the solution to security gaps in agentic AI frameworks, citing the Hugging Face security incident as an example.
Europe also needs to address accumulated tech debt, as AI exacerbates these issues, requiring scalable, cloud-based solutions, he said. Mueller also stressed the need for model selection flexibility, testing environments, and quantum-safe security measures against potential state actor espionage.
