A “full and unconditional” pardon has been given to Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, by President Donald Trump.
According to media reports, Trump said on his Truth Social platform that he had called Ulbricht's mother to inform her that he had granted a pardon to her son.
Ulbricht - known by the username Dread Pirate Roberts - was convicted in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison. He was the founder of the original Dark Web marketplace, which sold multiple items including illegal drugs, stolen passports and hacking equipment to more than 100,000 buyers.
