Crowdstrike Incident Causing Review of Technology

42 percent distrust one of their vendors.

Last year’s Microsoft outage, caused by a rogue Crowdstrike update, has triggered a major rethink of tech supply chains with just under half believing a single-vendor approach could cause them an incident.

According to research from Adaptavist, the incident found the outage fuelled fears of a supply chain incident, with ten percent viewing over-reliance on single-vendor solutions as the biggest threat to their company's IT resilience.

The survey of 400 practitioners found 42 percent believe that a vendor they rely on will cause a major incident, with 27 percent actively diversifying their software and service providers.

However, despite waning confidence, organisations aren't simply abandoning existing relationships. 37% say they are actively strengthening partnerships with current vendors, while 34.25% are increasing their reliance on open-source solutions, suggesting a sophisticated approach to risk management.
