Auchan Confirms Data Breach Affecting Customers

Bank information, passwords, and PIN codes were not compromised.

The French retail giant Auchan has disclosed a cyber-attack that exposed sensitive loyalty account data from several hundred thousand customers.

According to BleepingComputer, the company confirmed in breach notification letters that personal details, including names, postal addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and loyalty card numbers, were accessed by unauthorised actors. Bank information, passwords, and PIN codes were not compromised, the retailer emphasised. 

Auchan, which operates over 2,100 stores in 13 countries, has not disclosed further technical details of the attack.
