Ukrainian Arrested on Ransomware Charges

Unnamed man charged on involvement with Conti and Lockbit.

A 28-year old Ukrainian man has been arrested on charges of using a “hidden program to interfere with the computer networks of a foreign company.”

The man then cooperated with a Russian hacker group for a reward, and  demanded a ransom for decrypting the data, according to a statement from the Cyber Police of Ukraine.

He has also been linked with the Conti and Lockbit ransomware campaigns, and if convicted could face  up to 15 years of imprisonment.
