The UK government's Cyber Resilience Pledge has seen significant uptake, with more than 60 businesses, including major names like M&S, Nationwide, and Microsoft UK, committing to enhance their cybersecurity measures, according to IT Pro.
The voluntary scheme, launched in May, requires businesses to embed cybersecurity at a board level, complete NCSC's Cyber Governance Training, register for the NCSC's Early Warning service, and adopt a risk-based approach to Cyber Essentials certification for their supply chains. This initiative is primarily aimed at medium and large organizations but is open to all sectors.
The pledge aims to bolster national resilience against a backdrop of increasing cyber threats, with the National Cyber Security Centre handling 204 significant incidents in the past year, a notable increase from the previous year.
The average cost of a cyber-attack on a UK business is estimated at £195,000, contributing to an annual economic impact of £14.7 billion. The government is also developing a Cyber Charter for strategic suppliers of critical services, encouraging them to adopt similar resilience measures. Source: IT Pro
