UK Businesses and Leaders See Escalation in Cyber-Attacks

AI-generated deepfakes were involved in 22% of the attacks.

Around three-quarters of British senior executives have been targeted by cyber-attacks in the past 18 months.

A survey of 2,648 global respondents, including 254 from the UK, also found that 59% of British businesses hit by a cyber-attack in the last 18 months found attacks have increased against senior staff over the last three years.

Also, AI-generated deepfakes were involved in 22% of the attacks.

However 29% of UK companies do not provide extra training for senior staff members, and 36% of UK senior executives fell victim to a cyberattack over the past 18 months because they admitted to ignoring cybersecurity training.
