Trump Revokes AI Safety Executive Order

Republican Party claims it hindered AI innovation.

President Donald Trump has revoked a 2023 executive order around artificial intelligence safety tests.

According to Reuters, the executive order aimed to reduce the risks that artificial intelligence poses to consumers, workers and national security, by requiring developers of AI systems to share the results of safety tests with the U.S. government, when those systems pose risks to U.S. national security, the economy, public health or safety.

This executive order was in line with the Defense Production Act. However the Republican Party vowed to repeal the order, saying that it hinders AI innovation.

Trump has also signed a directive postponing the implementation of a law that would ban Chinese-owned app TikTok in the US by 75 days.
