Suspected hacker Arrested for Attacks on NATO and US Army

Attacker used up to three different pseudonyms.

An attacker who was reportedly behind dozens of cyberattacks against NATO, the U.S. Army, Spain's Ministry of Defense has been arrested.

According to BleepingComputer, the attacker allegedly conducted 40 cyber-attacks targeting critical public and private organisations. Spanish media reports that the suspect was brought before a court and subsequently released after having his passport confiscated to prevent him from leaving the country.

"Using up to three different pseudonyms, the suspect attacked international governmental organizations, accessing databases containing personal information of employees and customers, as well as internal documents that were later sold or freely published on forums," reads the Spanish police's announcement.

Despite attempts to evade detection using anonymization tools, law enforcement tracked him down with assistance from Europol, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, and the National Cryptologic Center.
