Scottish Cyber Coordination Centre Plans Revealed

The SC3 will help protect against and respond to cyber-attacks.

The Scottish Government has published new strategic plans for the Scottish Cyber Coordination Centre (SC3).

Intended to be a “focal point for Scotland’s cybersecurity and resilience”, the SC3 will provide services to help protect against and respond to the accelerating and evolving threat of cyber-attacks, and promote adherence to appropriate standards and best practices across critical functions and infrastructure.

Track and Evaluate

Its objectives will be to create a data-driven operation that can track and evaluate actionable security metrics for every public sector organisation in Scotland, and ensure that public sector organisations remain informed regarding current and emerging risks and threats, and are equipped and prepared to manage them.

There will also be an intention to increase the level of preparedness for cyber incidents across the public sector, so that all organisations have current and well tested response plans, and that major national cyber incident response processes are robust and effective.

This will provide a unified, coordinated approach to cyber resilience, offer specialist services and targeted support to organisations, and the capability to raise the bar on cyber maturity nationally.

The SC3 will sit alongside the Scottish Government’s Cyber Resilience Unit (CRU), and rely on its core partners (the Scottish Government Cyber Security and Cyber Resilience Units, Police Scotland, NHS NSS, HEFESTIS, Local Government Digital Office and NCSC) to provide input, advice, and challenge.
