Announcement coincides with the funding of local cyber projects.
The second round of the Cyber Explorers Cup competition is launched today.
An interactive cybersecurity learning platform, it is offered out to secondary schools across the UK and focused on 11 to 14 year olds. The programme looks to build essential digital skills to arm students with the tools they need to launch careers in cybersecurity.
Providing a series of ‘capture the flag’ style challenges, as well as solving cyber puzzles and boosting participants’ cybersecurity knowledge, to be eligible students will need to complete a minimum of three missions on the Cyber Explorers platform. The Cyber Explorers Cup competition takes place from 31st March to 4th April and is part of the government's Cyber First initiative.
The second round launch coincides with the announcement of funding of local projects with £1.9 million to boost national cybersecurity resilience. Feryal Clark, minister for cybersecurity said: “It’s also vital we develop a diverse and talented cybersecurity workforce, which is why the next phase of the Cyber Explorers Cup competition will be vital in identifying the UK’s cyber leaders of tomorrow.”
