Up to £140m could be spent covering compensation and legal costs associated with the Northern Ireland Police Service data leak.
The PSNI has set aside £116m to cover estimated costs based on legal advice suggesting the bill could be anywhere between £90m and £140m, or an average of between £12,500 and £20,000 per officer and staff member, according to media reports.
Whilst the ICO fine of £750,000 was detailed last week, approximately 7,000 officers and staff are involved in legal action claiming negligence and breach of data protection and privacy.
