DefenceInterviews

We all have data that needs protecting - whether that’s a bank’s account balances, state or commercial secrets, our customer lists, or our operational data that we don’t want frozen.

First, though, we have to know what we are defending, then prioritise and put our strongest defences around the most critical assets – which we might not even be able to identify if they are held as unstructured data. Then we have to keep track of where it goes when in transit, who accesses it, when and why, and who authorised them?

And the whole operation has to be in compliance with GDPR and any sector-specific regulations that apply – which again can entail searching unstructured data to comply with a ‘right to be forgotten’ request, or using encryption to minimise the likelihood of breach fines.
