UserSec blamed Zoom's cybersecurity for its ability to breach the credentials.
A pro-Russian hacking group has claimed to have breached Zoom, displaying images of credentials.
Named UserSec, it claims to have compromised two million user accounts, with a list of 95 user login credentials with passwords in plain text among the samples provided.
While any confirmation or denial of these claims has yet to be verified, one user poured doubt on the veracity of the breach, as Zoom has “a number of certifications that strictly mandate cryptographic measures of user credentials, incl. encrypting of passwords.”
Usersec said in a post that “there were no plans to create a leak work with this target”, due to an error by Zoom’s cybersecurity management “we were able to extract data from there.”
