Investigation launched into data leak incident.
The Northern Ireland Department of Education is investigating a suspected data leak after a spreadsheet was sent in error to 174 people.
According to Irish News, the spreadsheet included details of 407 individuals who registered interest for an event about the End-to End Review of Special Educational Needs. Details included names, email address and titles of those people.
Education Minister Paul Givan said the individuals involved have been contacted to make them aware of the data breach, and an investigation is being launched.
Givan said: “The department takes its responsibilities around data protection extremely seriously and we unreservedly apologise to all those affected as this should not have happened.”
