M&S Attack Fuels Ransomware Fears

More than half rank ransomware as their top threat.

Around two-thirds of UK security leaders have deep concerns over the crippling potential of ransomware attacks.

Following the £300 million cyber incident at Marks & Spencer, which also erased £1 billion from the retailer's market value, Digit reports that over half of the companies surveyed reported ransomware incidents in the past year, while 59 percent ranked it as their top threat.

"Cyber-criminals now have the capacity to severely disrupt, or even dismantle, organisations at scale," said Andy Ward, SVP of Absolute Security, who conducted the survey of 250 UK security leaders.
