Merseyside Teaching Hospital Suffers 'Cyber Incident'

Incident not being investigated by police.

A Merseyside hospital has declared a major incident for “cybersecurity reasons."

According to BBC News, Wirral University Teaching Hospital has asked people to only attend the hospital if they have "a genuine emergency", and the ongoing incident at the Trust is likely to impact performance.

Merseyside Police has confirmed it is not investigating the incident.

“The Trust business continuity processes are in place and our focus remains on maintaining patient safety," a statement said. “However, this issue is likely to result in longer waits in the emergency department and assessment areas.
