Honeytrapped MP Quits After Phishing Scandal

MP has resigned the Conservative Party whip after he gave out colleagues’ personal phone numbers.

William Wragg MP has resigned the Conservative Party whip after he gave out colleagues’ personal phone numbers, leading to at least a dozen people receiving unsolicited WhatsApp messages from two suspicious mobile numbers.

Wragg sent intimate pictures of himself to someone he had met on a dating app, who then blackmailed the MP into giving up personal contact details of other MPs and journalists.

The messages sent to the dozen people included personalized references to the victims' appearances at political events and social events, and in several cases explicit photos were also sent.

Wragg may face further scrutiny after a photoshoot for the Observer featured Wi-Fi passwords on a board behind him.
