Company was hit by a cyber-attack that led to partial encryption of the IT systems.
The German pharmaceutical products wholesaler AEP has been hit by a targeted and criminal cyber-attack.
In a statement, AEP said it had “fallen victim to a targeted and criminal cyber-attack that led to partial encryption of the IT systems using special software.”
The company said the incident was detected by our security systems on October 28th, and it immediately took necessary and far-reaching protective measures. This includes working ‘intensively’ on a solution with the help of external experts for cyber incidents and IT forensics, immediately disconnecting all external connections, and shutting down all affected IT systems.
“We are currently investigating the extent of the attack with the support of external experts. For this reason, we are currently not available by phone and can only be reached by email to a very limited extent.”
