Overall predicted times for total GenAI adoption dropped from six to 10 years.
There was a significant uptake in the amount of Generative AI in 2024.
According to the December 2024 AI MonitorEdge Report from PYMNTS, GenAI is often used to automate cybersecurity management systems and determine fraud and anomalies. The technology was noted by chief operating officers to have been beneficial to their organisations' bottom line, reports SC US.
The report found that organisations which leveraged GenAI-driven cybersecurity systems yielded higher savings than those that used the technology for high-impact tasks, with GenAI utilization for automated cybersecurity management associated with average savings of 7.7 percent of annual revenue.
While those that disclosed GenAI usage for cybersecurity and other high-impact tasks expect a slightly longer time to complete GenAI integration, overall predicted times for total GenAI adoption dropped from six to 10 years in May to nearly five to eight years in August.
"Many expect to see very positive returns by 2030, followed closely by full deployment as a result. Firms using the technology for high-impact tasks, such as data security, expect its ROI to be very positive in 5.6 years," said the report.
In the first article this week in our series of 2025 predictions, GenAI was said to present opportunities both to attackers, and to defenders - especially on the side of data security.
