Department for Energy Security and Net-Zero announces data exchange plan.
UK Government is to trial a data-sharing infrastructure for the energy sector.
According to edie, Ministers at the Department for Energy Security and Net-Zero confirmed that a feasibility study on the project, which would allow for rapid and secure sharing of data in a pre-competitive manner, was positive.
Ministers reported there are numerous pressing challenges relating to data in the energy sector, including poor interoperability, a lack of common data-sharing practices and vastly different approaches to new digital energy infrastructure.
The Department said: “Exchanges of data must be dynamic, accurate, and appropriately secure. Getting this right for the UK will be challenging, and will require technical, security, governance, and regulatory compliance considerations.”
