Dutch Government Sites Allegedly Compromised by Russian Hacktivists

The intrusion has also impacted numerous suppliers.

Municipalities and provinces across the Netherlands had their websites disrupted following a distributed denial-of-service attack against document publishing service provider NotuBiz.

Claimed by the pro-Russian hacktivist operation NoName057(16) ahead of this week's annual NATO summit at The Hague, according to Techzine.

Aside from impacting document access in the municipalities of Delft, Den Bosch, and The Hague, as well as the provinces of Overijssel and South Holland, such an intrusion has also impacted numerous suppliers.

"We are currently experiencing disruption due to a large amount of network traffic to our systems," said NotuBiz, which did not confirm the existence of a DDoS attack but said that incoming traffic is being blocked by its firewall.

While NoName057(16)'s assertions have also not been verified, the group has been known for targeting countries sympathetic to Ukraine. Such an attack has been noted to indicate heightened cyber-attack risks faced by digital government infrastructure.
