Robert O’ Brien is the founder and CEO of MetaCompliance, a global leader in the human aspect of Cyber Security and Privacy Compliance. With more than 30 years’ experience in the IT industry, Robert is a serial technology entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in executing and developing strategies for high growth businesses.
Robert began his career as co-founder of AMT Sybex, and by the age of 26 was the Managing Director of its Irish operations. He went on to join Integraph Corporation in 1996 and successfully acquired their Irish business through an MBO in 1998. The company was renamed Intertech and was successfully exited through a sale of Maxima PLC in 2006.
It was around this time, Robert founded MetaCompliance and began the process of developing its product strategy. He continued to provide consultancy expertise to Intergraph on their global cloud strategy which led to the establishment of HostSure. The company took on the outsourcing of data centre and network build until it was acquired by Intergraph in 2016. Robert continued to grow Metacompliance and assist its development during this phase, and in 2016 focused on scaling Metacompliance in line with the increasing industry demand for Cyber Security and Compliance products.
As a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Robert’s mission is to help organisations keep their staff safe online, secure their digital assets and help protect their reputation and brand. He is committed to leading Metacompliance through its current scaling phase and ensuring the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
