Thoma Bravo set to add Darktrace to its portfolio of cybersecurity companies.
UK vendor Darktrace has entered into an agreement to be bought by private equity firm Thoma Bravo for around $5.32 billion.
Thoma Bravo said it saw the acquisition as an opportunity to deepen its exposure in the cybersecurity market, and to support Darktrace's continued growth and innovation, according to media reports.
Thoma Bravo partner Andrew Almeida said Darktrace was at the "very cutting edge" of cybersecurity.
"Thoma Bravo has been investing exclusively in software for over twenty years and we will bring to bear the full range of our platform, operational expertise and deep experience of cybersecurity in supporting Darktrace's growth," he told Reuters.
Darktrace uses artificial intelligence to detect attacks and vulnerabilities inside IT networks rather than building barriers at the perimeter. Thoma Bravo reportedly previously approached Darktrace in 2022, but talks at the time did not result in an offer.
