Businesses Faced Fortnightly Cyber-Attacks in 2024

A third experienced a forced leadership change following a cyber incident.

Around a fifth of organisations experienced more than 25 cyber-attacks in 2024.

According to research from Rubrik Zero Labs, the most common attack vectors cited were data breaches (30 percent), malware on devices (29 percent), cloud or SaaS breaches (28 percent), phishing (28 percent), and insider threats (28 percent).

Of those surveyed, 40 percent of respondents reported increased security costs, and 37 percent noted reputational damage and loss of customer confidence. Also, a third experienced a forced leadership change following a cyber incident.

Joe Hladik, head of Rubrik Zero Labs, said: “Companies must take action and adopt an attacker’s mindset by identifying – and protecting – the most valuable data before it’s too late. The need for a data-centric security strategy that prioritises visibility, control, and quick recovery has never been more urgent.”
