Argeweb Disrupted by DDoS Attack

As attack sizes increase, Dutch provider battles 'ever-changing attacks.'

The operations of Dutch web hosting firm Argeweb have been disrupted for more than a week after being impacted by a distributed denial-of-service (DDos) attack.

The DDoS was initially discovered to have impacted the performance of certain DNS servers on March 25th, according to Cybernews reports.

Argeweb parent firm Youhosting reported on Thursday that stability has already been achieved at the firm. "We have taken additional measures to counter the ever-changing attacks. For the past two days, our platform has remained stable. We are keeping a close eye on the situation with increased monitoring so we can intervene immediately if necessary," Yourhosting said.

The news follows statistics from NETSCOUT which found that DDoS attacks were detected to be 12.7 percent larger than the first six months of the year.

Such mounting prevalence of politically motivated DDoS attacks has also been accompanied by the increased utilization of artificial intelligence and more sophisticated botnets for stealthier compromise.

"Attackers adapt and reconstitute their networks, with no significant decline in global attack volume," said the report.
