CISOs Lack Visibility Into Flaws, Fear Ransomware the Most

Fewer than a third are prepared for ransomware attacks.

According to research by Ivanti, half of security professionals rate API and software vulnerabilities as a high to critical threat, yet many organisations lack visibility into these risks.

Also, just over a third (37 percent) admit that they cannot confidently track patch compliance, leaving critical exposures unchecked. The survey of 2,400 executive leaders and cybersecurity professionals found ransomware to be the top predicted threat for 2025, which is especially concerning given that 38 percent of security professionals say ransomware will become even more dangerous when powered by AI.

However. only 29 percent of security professionals say they are very prepared for ransomware attacks – leaving a significant gap in preparedness (29 percent), highlighting the need for more robust security measures.
